Tropea

Tropea is also known as the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian”, its narrow alleys and its views and terraces on the sea make it one of the most suggestive villages in all of southern Italy. Just 4 km from our estate, Tropea is a town rich in history and still today they can be found walking through its streets, symbols of a glorious past.

The cathedral, founded in the Norman period, consists of two gothic portals of great charm and preserves within it artistic and architectural works of extraordinary value.

The Benedictine Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’isola, one of the most photographed places in Tropea, is rightly a symbol, such is its beauty. In fact, the Sanctuary stands on a rock right in front of the town and overlooks the clear sea of ​​the western Tyrrhenian Sea.

Capo Vaticano is an extensive seaside resort with a tourist vocation, whose beauty is enclosed in its being still today an uncontaminated place in various places. Its most evident feature are the granite rocks that stand out on the sea covered by a vegetation rich in rare species. The populous seabed and the incomparable panoramic views make it a popular destination for many travelers. Its natural position gives every day the thrill of one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, thanks to a panoramic view of the Aeolian Islands, from Stromboli to Etna. During two periods of the year, in April and August, moving from north to south along the coast between Capo Vaticano and Tropea, you can witness a rare and exciting spectacle: the sun sets in the mouth of the Stromboli volcano, evoking mythological and ancient scenarios legends.

It is also one of the places where the Calabrian Lira was played which after having almost fallen into disuse in the 1950s has returned to take back the stage and to spread to the rest of Calabria. There are several luthiers’ workshops in the area.
